Almost every second person living in sub-Saharan Africa lives on less than $1.90 per day. Women and children are particularly affected by poverty in Africa, and the pandemic this year has only exacerbated those vulnerabilities. According to the World Bank, 40 million people have been pushed back into extreme poverty, losing years of economic progress.
